2001: The New Black
The seed is planted in Hinsdale, west of Chicago. Phil Black Design (PBD) is founded with some youthful spirit, plenty of grit and a fancy-pants Aeron chair that still cradles Phil to this day. Although PBD would go on to great success, Phil’s other entrepreneurial venture, a cover band known as The Blackstreet Boys would fold after just two performances.
Initial projects are mostly Flash-based websites for a diversity of clients from B2B to B2C, industrial to fashion. Late nights spent staring at his titanium Powerbook would irradiate Phil’s eyes, giving him titanium-powered vision. This super-strong vision would serve him well in the years to come.
